Company History

Owner Chris Nicholas moved from Pittsburgh to Charleston, South Carolina shortly before Hurricane Hugo devastated the SC Lowcountry in 1989.

People were removing trees and leaving stumps, so Chris and his wife Jayne, a native of Charleston, SC, bought a stump grinder and began Charleston Stump Stompers.

Since then, they have grown their company from a stump removal service to a full-service, expert tree company, serving residential and commercial customers in the tri-county area for 20 years.
